Have you heard of this book?
31 Days to Clean is about the "why" and the vision and the heart for taking care of your domain. Each day you will be encouraged with some thoughts and ideas on the heart of cleaning, and then you will put those ideas to action.
After each days reading, you will be given two challenges (based off of Mary and Martha in the bible):
The Mary Challenge -Something you do that encourages/engages your heart
The Martha Challenge – Specific cleaning tasks
31 Days to Clean is a faith journey towards ruling, subduing, and loving. It is about forgoing perfection and instead choosing life.
I know I’ve mentioned this before but I absolutely HATE cleaning. Despise it. I would rather get a root canal done than scrub my floors. Not kidding.
Cleaning as always been something I have to FORCE myself to do. And honestly, I typically wait until it gets so bad that I just cannot stand it another second.
Don’t get me wrong, my house usually appears clean, but just don’t get down on your hands and knees and check the baseboards or look at the ceiling because there are dust bunnies and cobwebs. I assure you.
I have often wondered why I dislike cleaning so much. I mean, I know there aren’t many people that actually enjoy it, but I have an unhealthy dislike of cleaning, really. Am I just lazy?
Part of the problem is that I grew up having a house cleaner, so I was never the kid that had to help my mom clean. Of course we had to keep our rooms picked up and vacuum occasionally, but I never had to help my mom clean toilets or showers or scrub the floors. Unfortunately my husband thinks it is ridiculous to pay someone else to clean our house, so I better figure out a way to like it haha!
I stumbled across this book last week and downloaded it to my iPad instantly. It was like God was slapping me in the face, saying “YOU! You need to read this. This book was written for you.”
As I start this book, I plan to share what I learn with you all. I can’t be the only one who struggles with this, can I?
I’m hoping this allows me to see the bigger picture and maybe figure out how to get more cleaning done and (dare I say) enjoy it?
Here’s to hoping!
