I woke up extra early and snuck out of bed to get ready for the big surprise! I cooked up a yummy breakfast of scrambled eggs and toast and woke up the birthday boy.
I told him there was a surprise for him and he came out to the kitchen to eat his breakfast. Now at this point he was probably thinking, “oh great….another one of her “surprises.”
Let’s just say I use the word “surprise” pretty loosley around our house. I think I probably say, “I have a surprise for you!” at least once a week and most of the time it is just that I bought him something special at the grocery store or something silly like that.
In the many years Robbie and I have been together I have tried countless times to truly surprise him and it NEVER works. He always bugs me until he gets it out of me or else he figures it out before I can actually surprise him. So I am sure he wasn’t expecting much…
Enjoying his yummy breakfast.
Reading his card from his in-laws 🙂
Reading the card from me telling him that he needs to go to the dishwasher to see his first clue to the surprise!
The card had two Golden Retrievers on it…I couldn’t pass it up 🙂
Looking at the first clue which said, “Pack your bags!”
Checking out another clue.
We’re going to………….
He was in SHOCK!
He kept saying, “No way!”
Oh I got him good! 🙂
Kenny Chesney is Robbie’s favorite musician EVER. It has been his lifelong dream to be able to see him in concert. I think we look his tour up every year and he never seems to be coming anywhere close to South Dakota (go figure). Every concert we ever go to Robbie always says, “Oh man I just wish I could see Kenny in concert someday.”
As of Saturday I had no idea what I was going to get Robbie for his birthday. I had no ideas at all and everything I gave him for Christmas he didn’t like, so I really wanted to get him something good. I had gone home to my parents house last weekend while Robbie was in Vegas and my brother was telling me how his friend was going to a Kenny Chesney concert. I immediately freaked out and I was like “WHERE?!”
He is coming to Omaha, Nebraska…about 3 hours away from us. What a perfect birthday gift for my husband! Thank you God for slapping me on the side of the head with this one 🙂
I HAD to get those tickets, but of course everything was sold except for a few in the nosebleed section practically behind the stage. I knew that wasn’t going to cut it, because if we were going to do it, we were going to do it right!
My brother, the sports fanatic, suggested StubHub, a site that people buy/sell tickets on. I didn’t even think of that! It’s a great site we used to sell our tickets to a Vikings game last year. Perfect!
So we checked it out and we scored some great seats (for a pretty penny) but it was so worth it to see my husbands face when he read the words “Kenny Chesney.” And I FINALLY pulled off a surprise!
The clues I had around the house.
Please forgive my face. I hadn’t put it on yet 🙂
So basically I win the award for Wife of the Year and the bar has been set pretty high for my birthday. Which is coming up in a mere 34 days. I better go start making my list…
